Registered Nurse (Days/Nights)

Job Title :- Registered Nurse (Days/Nights)

Responsible to :- Manager/Deputy Manager

Accountable :- Manager


Job Description

To assist the Manager/Deputy manager in providing nursing and residential care within the home, in accordance with the Homes’ aims and objectives, meeting the requirements of current CSCI legislation. To act as a team leader for all aspects of the management of the home, in the absence of the Manager/Deputy manager


Main Duties

1. To assist the manager/Deputy manager in the day to day supervision and management of the Home, ensuring a homely, relaxed atmosphere conductive to a high quality standard of living and care

2. To act as a shift leader, providing overall supervision of all staff. To carry out counselling when necessary and, if needed, to assist senior staff with disciplinary matters and recruitment of staff

3. To be aware of the role and professional conduct expected of a Registered Nurse and to be personally responsible for ensuring that skills and knowledge are regularly updated in order to meet PREP requirements

4. Under the guidance of the Manager/Deputy, to ensure that the highest standards of nursing care are carried out, and an accurate record of individual care maintained in clients’ care plans

5. To ensure good communication between all staff

6. To ensure good communication between with all residents, their relatives and friends and where appropriate involve those parties in the clients’ care and support

7. To be responsible for the distribution and safe keeping of clients’ medications in accordance with the Homes’ policy and statutory requirements

8. To be a working member of the care team, giving guidance and support to junior staff

9. To take responsibility for duties delegated on a daily basis by the Manager/Deputy, and report back on their outcomes

10. Deal with general enquiries for the Home, ensuring that prospective clients’ and/or relatives are dealt with by the Administrator or the Manager and that all other enquiries are dealt with appropriately and courteously

11. To attend staff meetings as arranged

12. Any other duties as may from time to time be necessary and agreed with the Manager/Deputy in order to fulfil his/her role as an effective team member

Deputy Manager / Matron

Job Title :- Deputy Manager/Matron

Accountable :- Manager

Responsible for :- All clients residing the Home and all staff employed by the Home


Job Description

To ensure that, in the absence of the Manager, the Home is run to a high quality, safe standard, ensuring clients’ receive individual, holistic care and that the staff are carrying out the care in accordance with statutory CQC requirements


Main Duties

1. To conduct care and management in such a way so not to bring the Home or it’s clients into disrepute

2. To maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of care and management of the Home

3. To work within and adhere to his/her code of conduct as stipulated by the NMC at all times

4. Be aware of Homes policies and procedures and implement these as appropriate, ensuring that all staff work within these policies

6. Ensure staff are maintaining accurate, comprehensive and updated records and written reports

7. Assist the Manager in introducing and implementing change within the Home

8. Take responsibility for the delegation of duties and ensure that these are carried out

9. Be aware of his/her training needs and of the conduct expected from a management team member. Ensure that current theoretical and practical elements are up to date in accordance with PREP and relevant to current working environment

10. To ensure effective communication with all staff

11. To be responsible for the ordering, checking, storage and administration of clients’ medications, ensuring Homes policy is adhered to and code of conduct maintained

12. To be responsible for ensuring Registered Nurses adhere to the above

13. To ensure safe disposal of sharps/clinical waste as per guidelines and ensure RGN’s and staff are adhering to this

14. To ensure all staff receive the mandatory training provided on commencement of duty and ensure yearly updates are maintained

15. Ensure that phones are answered by all staff in a prompt and courteous manner and that any enquiries are dealt with immediately by the appropriate person

16. To be aware and oversee all care being carried out, ensuring care plan instructions are being adhered to and that the staff maintain at all times, the privacy, dignity, respect and individuality of our clients

17. To ensure the Home is run in a professional manner and that any decor/defects/Health and Safety hazards are identified and dealt with immediately

18. Ensure all staff adhere to the uniform policy

19. To ensure that duty rotas for all RGN’s are maintained and that all shifts are covered

20. To liaise and work closely with the Manager to discuss issues/improvements that may need to be addressed providing support in any decisions made

21. To regularly attend and actively participate with staff meetings

22. To ensure that communications with GP surgeries and multi-disciplinary teams are up-held, to ensure our clients’ benefit from good service

Healthcare Worker (Nights)

Job Title :- Healthcare Worker (Nights)

Job Description

To provide wakeful night duty cover in the home.

To undertake certain domestic duties which can be performed during night hours.


Main Duties

1. To report on duty at specified time, in correct uniform and receive handover from the RGN in charge

2. Assist clients’ in preparing for bed and walking in the morning as requested, ensuring all related care documentation is completed as per Homes’ policy and CSCI regulations

3. Carry out hourly checks of the Home and clients, with reference to fire safety and clients’ care, comfort and well being

4. Document all findings following hourly checks

5. In time available between attending to clients, undertake domestic duties primarily laundry, food preparation, eg. vegetable prep as specified by the chef, laying trays, re-stocking of clients’ rooms and cleaning of equipment

6. Be aware of and work within the Homes’ Policies and procedures and health and Safety at Work Act

7. Keep all information received about clients confidential at all times

8. Report all incidents involving clients or staff that may be detrimental to health and well being, to the RGN in charge

9. Be aware of his/her training needs and liaise with the Night RGN and training officer regarding this

10. Any other duties that may from time to time be necessary, and agreed by the Manager/deputy, in order to fulfil his/her role as an effective member of the care team

Housekeeper

Job Title :- Housekeeper

Job Description

To ensure that the clean and hygienic maintenance of the home. To maintain a high standard of appearance and to contribute to the quality of care and lifestyle afforded to each client. To maintain the privacy, dignity and respect of the clients’ personal possessions.


Main Duties

1. To be directly responsible to the Head Housekeeper and the Manager

2. To clean all allocated rooms, including furniture, fittings, fabric, carpets and equipment

3. To change the clients’ bedlinen as per rota or as required

4. To be aware of the Health and Safety statements and of the COSHH guidelines related to the cleaning products used within the home

5. To be constantly responsible for their equipment, ensuring it is contained safely and does not pose any hazard to our clients, visitors or staff

6. To ensure the appropriate hazard signs are used in areas where floors/bathrooms have been cleaned

7. To ensure all soap and alcohol gel dispensers are checked and re-filled on a daily basis

8. To reports any malfunction of equipment or fittings that require maintenance or cannot be maintained to standard through normal cleaning procedures

9. To deal with waste bags as per company policy, ensuring that all clinical waste is bagged and tagged as per company policy and placed in the appropriate disposal unit

10. To ensure all cleaning equipment is safely stored after use in locked facilities and that no equipment/products are left in clients’ rooms

11. To perform any other such reasonable duties as may be required

Healthcare Worker (Days)

Job Title :- Healthcare Worker (Days)

Job Description

1. To work in a team with other care staff to meet the personal needs of the service users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence.

2. To help in the care of the service users physical environment and in the general day to day activities of the home.


Main Duties

1. Report on duty and obtain handover from RGN in charge

2. Assist the service users with dressing, undressing, bathing, toilet and pressure area care

3. Assist the service users with mobility problems working in close liaison with the home Physiotherapist

4. Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of the service users through talking to them, taking them out and sharing in their activities

5. Be aware and work within the homes policies and procedures and Health and Safety at Work Act

6. Keep all information received about the service users confidential at all times

7. Make and change bed linen, tidy rooms i.e light cleaning and emptying commodes

8. Serve meals, feed service users who need help, tidy and clear the dining room and collect trays from rooms

9. Answer service users call bells, the main door and telephone and greet visitors

10. Be aware of his/her own training needs and liaise closely with the RGN and/or Manager regarding this. You are required to attend three days worth of training per year

11. Report all incidents involving service users or care staff that may be detrimental to health and well being to person in charge

12. Attend staff meetings and in every way ensure effective and appropriate communication between all staff

13. Any other duties as may from time to time be necessary and agreed with the Manager or RGN in order to fulfil his/her role as an effective member to the care team
